Herpes nerve pain down the leg is under-recognized by doctors. (tailbone) and down the left thigh, although in rare cases it occurs on the right leg. Herpes nerve pain and left leg pain can be extremely uncomfortable. The former is caused by the varicella-zoster virus; the latter is caused by the herpes simplex virus. It’s more painful on the backside of the thigh and buttock, although the pain extends further down too. I had only one lesion, but my lymph nodes in my genital area were extremely swollen, I had numbness from my unmbilical to my knees, sharp stabbing shooting pain that would travel down my upper leg. And while genital herpes certainly can and does cause these signs of infection literally on the genitals (the penis or the vulva) it also can produce signs of infection nearby. Prodrome: Early in the phase of reactivation (also called an outbreak), many people experience an itching, tingling, or painful feeling in the area where their recurrent lesions will develop. Such areas include the vagina or vulva, penis, scrotum or testicles, buttocks or anus, or thighs.
Does anyone else deal with this and is it normal? Any info will help! Welcome: ))))!!!! I’m glad you found us!!! Ihave had H since the beginning of September and inexperienced the pain you are having girl its so normal!!! Also iknow your in a stressful situation at the moment but try to not stress because that is a trigger to an OB ihave had 4 since September one of them lasted the whole month of December. I only had this with my initial OB, but it was pretty severe leg nerve pain, I couldn’t squeeze my thigh without screaming in pain. My question is this: could herpes simplex cause nerve pain the same way shingles does? I also have been having swollen lymph nodes in my inner thighs. It is ALWAYS a good idea to check with your doctor as there can be other factors causing this pain, but if you never had it before Herpes, and how you have it after contracting Herpes, a safe bet is to look at Herpes as being the cause of the pain.
If symptoms occur during the first outbreak, they can be quite pronounced. Some people couldn’t walk, were in bed for days, having excruciating pain radiating down their legs with weakness and flu-like symptoms. Usually the first attack causes visible sores with a myriad of other symptoms mentioned below, and commonly more intense than recurrent outbreaks. I’m just trying to find out what could be causing this. I had slight pain in my thighs and buttocks – not muscular pain, but pain when I actually touched the skin. It is hard to tell someone sorry, the skin on my butt and legs hurt because I have Herpes. Many people with herpes will not have any visible signs or symptoms at all, or not be aware of them. When the virus reactivates (wakes up), it travels nerve paths to the surface of the skin, sometimes causing an outbreak.
Leg And Nerve Pain!
It is difficult to paint a single picture of what herpes infection is like. When genital sores erupt, they usually do so at the site where the virus took hold, which is usually on the external genitals. Genital herpes may never be more severe than one very small sore on the labia or foreskin, around the anus, or on the thigh. The person may feel generally sick, usually with a flu-like illness that feels very much like any other viral infection, causing muscle aches and pains and possibly fever and headaches. Fever may also be accompanied by muscle ache, headache, malaise, and nausea similar to the flu or other illness. Sores caused by genital herpes can be very painful, and when they open up to the air and begin to crust over, the pain can be anywhere from mild to unbearable during your first outbreak. The primary episode of either genital or oral herpes often causes painful blisters and flulike symptoms Table 01. Within days, clusters of blisters appear, typically on the penis or vulva, but they can also occur elsewhere, such as on the thighs or around the anus. HSV-1 most often affects the mouth and lips and causes cold sores or fever blisters. But the virus can still be spread, even when no sores or other symptoms are present. Genital symptoms include small, painful blisters filled with clear or straw-colored fluid. Outer vaginal lips (labia), vagina, cervix, around the anus, and on the thighs or buttocks (in women). Shingles is caused by herpes zoster, the same virus that causes chicken pox. Though the rash may disappear after a couple of weeks, the pain can last for months or years. The skin around my genitals and thighs (front and back) is constantly inflamed and sensitive. I can deal with the outbreaks if they come, but the non-stop pain of neuralgia from the herpes is really becoming a burden.
Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. The sores will first just look like tiny irritations or bumps, but they will then develop into watery blisters on the clitoris, the outer lips of the vagina, the vaginal opening and sometimes on the anus, thighs and buttocks. Painful urination and a dull ache in the genital area can accompany active sores. These burn and can be painful. This is usually acquired as an upper respiratory tract infection during early childhood. Genital herpes can be transmitted by oral sex and can be caused by HSV I or HSV II. Outbreaks can occur in the trunk, arms or legs. Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful skin rash: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, complications, vaccination, prevention. Besides the sex organs, genital herpes can affect the tongue, mouth, eyes, gums, lips, fingers, and other parts of the body. You also may feel pain in your lower back, buttocks, thighs, or knees.
Despite use of systemic antiviral treatment, the painful syndrome in our patient persisted.
